School District Accountant
*Job Overview*
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced School District Accountant to oversee all financial functions are processed accurately, placing emphasis on the accounting, budgetary, reporting, and purchasing aspects of the district. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a proven track record in accounting principles. This role requires strategic planning, effective management, and the ability to foster growth across various areas while ensuring operational excellence. A basic understanding of school finance and school district audits is a plus.
Qualifications:
Wisconsin DPI license as school business administrator preferred.
School Finance experience preferred
Responsibilities*
Responsible for the preparation of the school budget.
Supervise all accounting transactions and recommend new accounting methods as necessary.
Oversee the school budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
Recommend, coordinate, and process the transfer of budget funds.
Supervise the collection, safekeeping, distribution and investment of all funds.
Arrange for the internal auditing of school accounts.
Provide monthly budget reports and projections for the Superintendent and School Board.
Advise the Superintendent on all questions relating to financial affairs of the district and assist with long range financial planning.
Identify opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Prepare reports and attend School Board meetings
Prepare state and federal reports and claims as required.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable and payroll processes.
Perform additional tasks and assume responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

Solid understanding of school business development strategies.

Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing school district policies.
Ability to identify areas for process improvement and implement effective solutions.
Proficiency in financial management software programs (Skyward)
