Job Description
CSCI Consulting is seeking a senior-level Budgetary Accounting & Reporting Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support Statement of Budgetary Resources (SBR) audit remediation efforts by identifying root causes of audit findings, resolving budgetary discrepancies, and implementing durable process, data, and control improvements. This role directly supports audit examinations by delivering audit-ready reconciliations, documentation, and internal control enhancements related to budget execution and SBR reporting.
Responsibilities
Lead budget execution and SBR reporting activities, including SF 132/133 analysis, tie-outs, and reconciliation of SBR balances to source systems.
Support SBR audit remediation by identifying root causes of findings, resolving discrepancies, and delivering audit-ready documentation and PBC support.
Perform high-level budgetary and USSGL reconciliations, ensuring alignment between budgetary and proprietary accounting and compliance with federal standards.
Assess and strengthen internal controls and business processes supporting budgetary reporting and auditability.
Partner with functional and system stakeholders to improve data quality, transaction traceability, and sustainable audit outcomes.
Provide subject-matter expertise on federal appropriations, budgetary accounting, and DoD financial policy in support of complex client challenges.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Experience:
Extensive background in DoD budgetary accounting and financial statement preparation
Direct experience with SF 132, SF 133, and SBR reporting requirements is mandatory
Expert-level mastery of USSGL, SFIS, and DoD financial systems (e.g., GFEBS, DEAMS, NERP, or similar)
Proven ability to interpret and apply complex Posting Logic and federal financial regulations
Security Clearance:
Active Secret clearance required
Location:
Hybrid - three days onsite at the Pentagon (Washington, D.C. area)
