Staff Accountant

A long-standing, highly stable financial institution is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team due to a retirement. The organization prioritizes security, consistency, and long-term career growth over rapid change or frequent turnover.Responsibilities:Perform daily accounting functions and general ledger maintenancePrepare, review, and distribute financial and regulatory reportsSupport month-end and quarterly close processesReconcile accounts, including operational and balance sheet accountsAssist with regulatory reporting and internal financial reporting under Controller supervisionMaintain prepaid accounts and support daily reconciliation processesPrepare supporting schedules, reports, and analysis for management and auditorsAssist with annual reporting and regulatory deliverablesInvestigate discrepancies and support resolution of accounting issuesEnsure compliance with banking regulations and internal controlsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required2+ years of accounting experience in a financial institution (bank or credit union required)Strong General Ledger accounting experience required (not solely AP/AR or operations-based roles)Experience with banking financial reporting strongly preferredAdvanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, etc.) requiredStrong attention to detail and understanding of accounting controlsPreferred Experience:Call reporting or regulatory reporting exposureExperience in stable, long-tenure organizationsBackground in bank accounting rather than purely operational banking rolesSchedule & Compensation:Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)Bonus: Bank-wide discretionary bonus (historically paid, not guaranteed)Strong benefits package including pension, 401(k) contribution, and comprehensive medical coverage
