Title: Front End JourneypersonDepartment: Front EndStatus: PT/FT, Journeyperson, Union, HourlyReports To: Front End ManagerJob SummaryTo ensure the highest level of service possible to Outpost's internal and external customers. Ensure accurate cash handling and maintain the flow of customers through the register lines. Ensure a well maintained, clean, and efficient front end department.Work EnvironmentFast paced retail floor and cash office environment with moderate to loud noises (i.e. computers, paging, telephones, human voices, and equipment). Work near moving mechanical parts (i.e. register belt). Position requires working during busy retail times, which include weekends, afternoons, and evenings.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCustomer ServiceTreat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standards.Front End Department ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & CashieringEnsure professional and friendly service from all front end staff.Ensure that customer check out is the first priority.Ensure that cashiers are available at all times to check out customers with minimum waiting.Fill in for cashiers' breaks and back up the registers as needed.Handle customer questions and complaints including on the premises and follow up phone calls.Assist customers with special orders.Assist customers in establishing and renewing Outpost memberships.Assign cashiers stocking, cleaning, and fronting and facing duties during down times.Assist in answering cashier's questions and in their education about store products and policies.Organize carts and baskets and maintain a tidy and well supplied front end.Assist with bagging and carry-outs.Ensure that adequate register supplies are available. Ensure register equipment and work areas are clean and organized.Attend department meetings as scheduled.Perform all duties included in department clerk job descriptions.Assign cashiers drawers, verify drawers, and do pick ups.Count out cashier's drawers at the end of shift.Be accountable for drawers on floor and security of cash.Assist with daily deposit.Provide change to cashiers.Take in payment for NSF checks.Ensure accurate entry of suspicious checks into system. Communicate with other stores about potential fraudulent check writers.ScanningProvide back-up to scanning functions of front end department.PersonnelDelegate duties to front end staff and ensure they are always busy.Positively encourage department staff to excel at their job.Replace vacant shifts when call ins, etc. occur.
