We are looking for self-motivated candidates to join our part-time staff as either on-call or temporary classification. The ideal candidate will possess willingness to work physically, an outgoing personality, a positive attitude, leadership skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.Recreation Support will primarily assist in supporting building operations with janitorial duties and rental set-up and clean up, keeping facilities accessible, clean and orderly condition, performing a combination of building maintenance janitorial work and service assistance.HOURS: Rec Support staff may work year-round as an on-call position, for up to 20 hours per week or may work as a temporary position for 8 months and 40 hours weekly depending upon experience and shift availability. The LORAC is open 7 days a week, and Rec Support hours for work are during open building hours at the LORAC. Shifts are typically scheduled between 5:30am to 9:30pm Monday through Friday and 6:30am to 9pm Saturdays and 7:30am to 9pm on Sundays.The shifts primarily occur at the LORAC and there may be possible additional hours for other recreation activities at other Parks & Rec locations. Rec Support staff reports to Directors, Superintendent, Supervisors or Lead Staff depending upon staff presence.For more information about the Lake Oswego Recreation and Aquatics Center (LORAC), visit:Key ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide regular service for the Parks & Recreation Department including cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, washing windows and walls, laundry, water plants, emptying garbage and recycling.Set-up and breakdown tables, chairs and various program materials and equipment for specific events and activities.Maintain designated buildings, performing minor and routine maintenance activities and using hand tools.Act as liaison between Parks & Recreation staff and the public.Assist both instructors and participants with program related issues.Customer inquiries regarding way-finding and giving directions to rooms and activities.Coordinate room usage with public groups.Maintain building security.Help contractors locate and access building site and equipment.Perform other duties of a similar nature and level.Education and Experience RequirementsSuccessful candidates will have:Knowledge of the principles of the building cleanliness, repair, and maintenance.Basic knowledge of custodial operations as well as methods, tools, materials, equipment and safety practices for making small repairs in the area of assignment.Basic computer skills, such as access to email and running scheduling reports.Excellent speaking skills, professional manner and good communication skills.A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is six months experience in general maintenance work, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above described duties.
