Ballet Instructor

Overview We are seeking a knowledgeable, passionate, and dedicated Ballet Teacher to provide high quality instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels. The ideal candidate will foster technical excellence while inspiring creativity, confidence, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for ballet. The Ballet Teacher will prepare students for performances, recitals, competitions, and examinations while creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment. Key Responsibilities Plan and teach age-appropriate ballet classes for recreational and competitive dancers. Instruct students in proper ballet technique, alignment, posture, flexibility, strength, musicality, and artistry. Teach ballet vocabulary and terminology using appropriate instructional methods. Develop lesson plans that promote technical progression and student growth. Choreograph and rehearse routines for recitals, competitions, showcases, and other performances. Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents. Maintain classroom discipline while fostering a positive, respectful, and supportive learning environment. Modify instruction to accommodate varying skill levels and learning styles. Collaborate with the studio director and faculty to develop curriculum and performance opportunities. Encourage teamwork, confidence, perseverance, and respect among students. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by following studio policies and best practices. Attend faculty meetings, rehearsals, dress rehearsals, recitals, competitions, and studio events as required. Maintain professionalism in appearance, communication, and interactions with students, parents, and fellow staff members. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating integrity, dedication, and a passion for dance education. Qualifications Extensive training in classical ballet with a strong technical foundation. Previous experience teaching ballet to children and/or adults preferred. Ability to teach multiple levels, from beginner through advanced. Strong knowledge of ballet technique, anatomy, injury prevention, and proper body alignment. Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire students. Reliable, punctual, and committed to professional excellence. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Preferred Skills Experience preparing dancers for competitions, examinations, or pre-professional training. Choreography experience for recitals and performances. Familiarity with contemporary teaching methods and child development. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and families. Commitment to continuing education and professional growth. Work Schedule Evening required. Occasional additional hours for rehearsals, performances, competitions, and studio events. Physical Requirements Demonstrate ballet exercises, combinations, and choreography. Stand, move, and actively participate throughout classes. Lift or assist younger students when appropriate. Perform repetitive physical activity for extended periods.
