Cafe Assistant - Food & Nutrition - 5.0 Hours

CLASSIFICATION: SUPPORT STAFFJOB TITLE: CAFE ASSISTANTCALENDAR: 1811H OR 1911FT (9 MONTHS)SALARY: GRADE 104 (SUPPORT HOURLY)Job GoalAssist in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of food in a quantity food service operation, using safe and efficient food handling practices; and providing accurate and efficient food service while adhering to excellence in customer service.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredExperience in food preparation and handling is desiredAbility to read and write English as it pertains to job functionsMust display the ability to communicate effectively with staff, co-workers, and studentsThe ability to operate institutional equipment is desiredValid food handler's certificate or acquire within 30 days of hireSatisfactory criminal background checkVision and hearing adequate to exercise job responsibilities in a safe mannerKnowledge of and adherence to all policies, rules, and regulationsCore Job Functions:Demonstrate thorough knowledge of HACCP food safety guidelines and proceduresPrepare, stock, and maintain the serving area and/or assist in food preparation and clean upAccurately identify a reimbursable meal on the serving line; provide monitoring and guidance to customers to ensure selections meet federal guidelinesSafely operate standard and specialized kitchen equipment, including convection/combi ovens, microwave ovens, dishwashers, air fryer ovens, food warmers, coolers, and freezersSet up serving line with appropriate serving equipment, utensils, and safety measuresPrepare and cook food according to food safety regulations while following all county and state guidelinesWash dishes and equipment according to Maricopa County Health Department guidelinesClean work areas and dispose of garbage dailyAssist the manager in verifying and monitoring HACCP procedures, including temperature, sanitizer, and storage logsEnsure product quality through visual inspection and adhere to cooking and serving guidelines provided to maintain customer satisfactionPerform all duties as assigned safely and prudently as directedCore Values:Excellence in all we do.
