Embedded Linux & BSP Engineer (Firmware)
Tips: Provide a summary of the role, what success in the position looks like, and how this role fits into the organization overall.Role: Embedded Software EngineerLocation: Irvine, CA – OnsiteStart Date: ImmediateBackground Check: MandatoryKey ResponsibilitiesDevelop, customize, and maintain BIOS/UEFI, bootloaders, BSPs, and low-level platform firmware.Support Linux kernel configuration, kernel modules, device drivers, and hardware initialization.Develop and integrate BSPs for x86/AMD64 platforms and support board bring-up and validation.Port and configure Linux kernel/device-tree components for new hardware platforms.Support configuration and integration of GMSL3 drivers and related utilities.Perform hardware/software integration, debugging, and validation using JTAG, serial consoles, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.Support Linux-based operating systems on bare-metal platforms across x86, ARM, and specialized accelerators.Work with storage technologies including NVMe, eMMC, SATA, and SD, including root filesystem configuration.Develop diagnostic and validation tools to verify firmware, hardware, and platform readiness.Troubleshoot issues across firmware, bootloader, BSP, kernel, drivers, hardware, and operating-system layers.Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, PaaS, DevOps, and system engineering teams.Document firmware changes, BSP configurations, initialization sequences, bring-up procedures, and validation results.Provide technical support, knowledge transfer, and documentation to internal engineering teams.Required SkillsStrong knowledge of Linux kernel boot flow and hardware initialization.Hands-on BSP development for x86/AMD64 platforms.Strong programming skills in C/C++ and low-level embedded software development.Experience with embedded systems debugging and hardware/software integration.Hands-on experience with JTAG, serial console, oscilloscopes, or similar debugging equipment.Experience with Linux kernel modules, device drivers, and device trees.Experience with BIOS/UEFI, bootloaders, or platform firmware.Experience with embedded storage technologies such as NVMe, eMMC, SATA, and SD.Knowledge of Linux root filesystem setup and configuration.Strong board bring-up, platform validation, and root-cause analysis experience.Nice-to-Have SkillsExperience with NVIDIA Jetson platforms.GMSL3/GMSL2 or automotive camera interface experience.Knowledge of secure boot, TPM, and firmware security.Experience with cloud/edge/IaaS environments.Knowledge of SoCs, GPUs, AI/ML accelerators, or heterogeneous computing architectures.ARM platform experience in addition to x86/AMD64.Aerospace, avionics, defense, or other safety-/mission-critical embedded systems experience.If you are interested and available for this onsite opportunity in Irvine, CA, please share your updated resume, availability, current location, work authorization, and contact details.
