Your RoleAs a Gensler Technical Designer, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with a focus on project delivery and an understanding of how to produce functionally beautiful designs for our clients. You will help drive delivery of a project, collaborate with office and regional technical leaders and develop delivery and process improvement strategy. You have exceptional design skills, a background in architecture or design, and a portfolio of innovative project work.What You Will DoWork with the Design Director(s) and project team(s) on conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and productionPerform technical design assignments that include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning and construction documentationConduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s during constructionManage client, team and project communication and coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultantsProduce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, plans, elevations, details and sections through to detailed construction drawings Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutionsSupport project sustainability targets throughout project phases and actively engage in delivering them. Coordinate sustainability targets with project consultants and engineersImplement sustainable design strategies in every project stage and investigate solutions to sustainable design challengesWork collaboratively with the team to optimize sustainability performance through design iterations and researchLead climate focused analysis and studies for each projectContribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programsYour QualificationsAdvanced degree in Architecture or Design preferred.10+ years of relevant architecture and design experience, with a strong background in the design and delivery of multiple building typologies of varying scaleProficient in design modeling/visualization tools including but not limited to Revit, Rhino, Enscape; having experience with Excel and computational tools like grasshopper/dynamo is also a plusProficient in production software including but not limited to the Adobe Creative Suite, experience working with video/animation software such as After Effect and Premier is a plusExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsOutstanding graphic presentation skillsAbility to lead a team and develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key partnersCreative, original thinking and technically biased, demonstrated through a strong creative and technical portfolioKnowledge in sustainable design principles requiredLEED, WELL, Fitwell, LFA or other rating systems accreditation preferablePrevious experience in sustainable design projects preferable. Especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel and /or Net Zero Building certification.Demonstrate a collaborative and integrated approach towards achieving high sustainability project goals.Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficientlyYour Design Technology QualificationsEssential:Deep understanding and expertise in Autodesk Revit for design authoring, documentation, data extracts and project deliveryDeep understanding and expertise in the strategic planning, setup of BIM projects, and troubleshooting, specifically in the context of Revit and allied workflowsDeep understanding and expertise with collaboration in the BIM context, including cloud-based markups, consultant coordination and clash detectionDesirable:Good working knowledge and experience in Rhino for design authoringGood knowledge and experience with interoperability workflows between Rhino & Revit throughout all the stages of a projectGood knowledge and experience with real-time rendering processes, and material creation & management within the context of integrated BIM and parametric workflowsGood knowledge and experience with Computational Design applications such as Grasshopper and/or DynamoGood knowledge and experience with simulation principles and processes, including interpretation, and application of results. Familiarity with Performance Design applications such as Autodesk Insight, Sefaira, and Ladybug toolsGood knowledge and experience in the use of VR walkthroughs and panoramas for client presentations, consultant coordination and internal design reviewsLicensure/Certification: None required, though licensure in progress is welcomedFor consideration, please submit cover letter, resume and portfolio in PDF format. The base salary range will be estimated between $90,000 - $131,000, plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
