Laundry Attendant

GENERAL DESCRIPTION Responsible to perform all aspects of laundry care ensuring a pleasing home-like environment for residents, employees and visitors. Starting pay rate is $10.50. Duties require being on your feet most of the day, bending, pulling, pushing and lifting.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Bags and transports soiled laundry from resident rooms to laundry roomObserves sanitation guidelines and universal precautions.Separates and sorts linens and clothing per company policies and proceduresPre-rinses heavily soiled items when neededWashes and dries each type of load on proper cycle at proper temperatureRemoves cleaned/dried items and sorts by nameProperly hangs or folds all laundered itemsReturns clean laundry to correct resident room; stores according to policy.At all stages of laundry, observes items for damage or missing identification and sets aside for repair or labelingKeeps housekeeping and laundry areas clean and organizedEnsures that hazardous cleaning products are properly used, labeled and stored when not in useEstablishes and maintains good relationships with residents and family membersPractices proper body mechanics when lifting and follows all other safety guidelinesFollows company guidelines for uniforms and name badgesUses company-provided equipment properly as intendedEncourages teamwork and promotes company philosophyAttends required training and meetingsBecomes familiar and understands the steps for emergency response, including evacuationAll employees are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all community residentsPerforms other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Able to read, write, speak and understand the English language and able to communicate effectively. Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.Knowledge of OSHA Standards and safety procedures preferredUnderstand the steps for emergency response including fire evacuationIs prompt and able to perform the required duties of the position on a regular, predictable basisEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalentWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum one-year experience in a senior community or healthcare environment preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:Frequently stand, walk, sit, push, climb and/or balance, stoop and kneel up to eight hours a dayFrequently support up to 70 poundsFrequently lift/carry up to 50 poundsSubject to infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc. throughout the work day.Franklin Park Boerne is location at 18 Old San Antonio Rd.Franklin Park is dedicated to providing residential communities where seniors and their families feel right at home immediately upon entering our doors.
