Kforce has a client that is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering in Westlake, TX.Summary:This role leads and mentors a team of software engineers while contributing hands-on to the development of an enterprise technology platform. The position balances technical leadership with people management to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, scalable software. The ideal candidate has strong full-stack experience, a passion for mentoring, and the ability to drive both team performance and technical excellence.Responsibilities include:Leading and managing engineers through regular 1:1s, mentorship, and career coachingConducting annual performance reviews, setting goals, and providing ongoing feedbackTracking team and individual performance on a sprint-by-sprint basis to ensure quality delivery and deadline adherenceFacilitating technical discussions, removing roadblocks, and enforcing best practices and coding standardsRepresenting engineering in project and stakeholder meetings to align technical execution with business objectivesContributing directly to software design, development, and architecture using React, Node.js, Salesforce, and PostgreSQLWriting scalable, maintainable code and conducting thorough code reviewsDebugging and resolving complex issues with minimal timeline impactCollaborating with QA, Product Managers, Designers, and Business Analysts to ensure clear requirements and efficient deliveryMaintaining technical documentation including architecture diagrams and coding guidelines; Driving continuous improvement across agile processes, CI/CD, security, and complianceEnsuring adherence to security standards and change management proceduresStaying current on emerging technologies and trendsFostering a collaborative, inclusive team cultureProviding ongoing mentorship focused on professional development and growth* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field5+ years of full-stack software development experienceStrong hands-on expertise with JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, Redux, Node.js, SQL, and PostgreSQLExperience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and unit testing frameworksUnderstanding of software architecture, design patterns, and scalable system designFamiliarity with cloud platforms and DevOps practices; Experience with AWS and Heroku preferredProven experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teamsStrong communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skillsDemonstrated problem-solving ability and independence in managing prioritiesAbility to perform effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environmentCommitment to continuous learning and team improvementExperience implementing agile methodologies and using metrics such as sprint velocityExperience with Salesforce and Salesforce Apex is a plusExposure to AI platforms or services such as OpenAI or AWS-based AI tools is a plus
