POSITION TITLE: Group Facilitator - Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-ExemptSUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Clinical DirectorWORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Thursday, with afternoon and evening hours required; occasional weekends based on program needs.SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:The Group Facilitator for the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is responsible for leading structured group therapy and psychoeducation sessions for individuals participating in behavioral health treatment at Heale Counseling. The role focuses on supporting clients with mental health or co-occurring conditions through group engagement, skill development, and recovery-oriented activities. While licensure is not required, the position demands strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a foundational understanding of mental health topics and group dynamics.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & COMPETENCIES:Facilitates therapeutic and psychoeducational groups as scheduled, using evidence-informed curricula and techniques under clinical supervision.Creates a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that encourages participation, accountability, and peer support.Prepares materials, handouts, and activities in advance of sessions to support curriculum goals.Monitors client participation and emotional well-being during sessions, and communicates concerns to licensed clinical staff.Assists with coordinating guest speakers, wellness activities, or experiential learning components as assigned.Documents group attendance and summarizes client participation or behavioral observations per organizational policy.Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and adheres to HIPAA confidentiality standards at all times.Collaborates with the IOP treatment team during staff meetings to report on progress, engagement, and any challenges.Participates in required trainings related to crisis response, trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and ethical practice.Assists with the setup, cleanup, and organization of group spaces and materials.Supports the development and implementation of new group topics or enhancements to existing programming.Provides encouragement, emotional support, and motivation to clients in alignment with treatment goals.Identifies and responds appropriately to crisis situations, following internal escalation and reporting procedures.Maintains a professional demeanor and actively contributes to a positive team environment.Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or Program Manager.POSITIONS SUPERVISED:NoneLEVEL OF EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or GED required; Professional License preferredPrevious experience facilitating group activities, peer support, or therapeutic sessions in a behavioral health or recovery setting preferred.Familiarity with mental health terminology, trauma-informed care principles, and group facilitation techniques.Ability to maintain composure and professionalism when working with clients experiencing emotional distress.Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and team collaboration.Willingness to receive ongoing supervision and feedback from clinical leaders.Experience with diverse and multicultural populations is strongly preferred.Computer literacy sufficient to enter attendance, notes, or complete internal training modules.REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:CPR/First Aid requiredPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to sit, stand, or lead group activities for extended periods; occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds; ability to respond quickly in case of client emergencies.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed in a clinical or group room environment; may be emotionally demanding at times due to exposure to client trauma, distress, or crisis situations.
