Software Engineer Level 3 Location US-MD-Annapolis Junction ID 2026-8414 Category Information Technology Position Type Full-Time Remote No Clearance Level TS/SCI FS Poly DescriptionMarkon is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to support the Fort Meade customer in designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical data processing and cloud-based solutions. This role leverages big data technologies, cloud infrastructure, and modern software development practices to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing applications that support enterprise mission objectives. The position works closely with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions within complex data environments. ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain software applications supporting large-scale data processing and analyticsDevelop and enhance solutions utilizing Hadoop, Accumulo, and AWS technologiesBuild and maintain cloud-native applications and services within AWS environmentsDevelop software using Java and Python to support mission and business requirementsImplement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using TerraformCollaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements and implement technical solutionsSupport system integration, deployment, and modernization initiativesTroubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues, and integration challengesParticipate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and deploymentDevelop and maintain technical documentation and software artifacts QualificationsRequired QualificationsActive TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.Bachelor's degree and 20+ years of software engineering experienceExperience developing solutions using Hadoop and AccumuloExperience developing and deploying applications within AWS cloud environmentsExperience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using TerraformStrong software development experience with Java and PythonExperience supporting large-scale data processing, storage, and analytics platformsExperience working in Agile development environmentsExperience with source code management and CI/CD practicesStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills Desired Qualifications Experience with cloud-native and serverless architecturesExperience with distributed computing and big data ecosystemsExperience with containerization technologies such as Docker and KubernetesFamiliarity with DevSecOps practices and automated deployment pipelinesExperience supporting Intelligence Community mission systems and enterprise data platforms Salary Range USD $230,000.00 - USD $250,000.00 /Yr.
