Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Controller, Finance & Administration for a mission-driven nonprofit organization focused on impactful community programs. This is an onsite opportunity based in Burlingame, CA.POSITION OVERVIEW:Are you an experienced Controller looking for your next opportunity? This interim leadership position blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution, leading full-cycle accounting and finance operations while partnering closely with executive leadership and the board.PERKS:Competitive hourly pay of $58–$72/hour, depending on experienceOpportunity to step into a high-visibility, board-facing leadership rolePotential for assignment extension based on performance and organizational needsCollaborative, mission-driven work environment with executive exposureEmployer-provided equipment and professional, well-supported workplaceRESPONSIBILITIES:Lead full-cycle accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reportingOversee finance, purchasing, IT, and HR functions, managing multiple direct reportsPrepare and present financial reports to executive leadership and board stakeholdersOwn budgeting processes, forecasting, and audit preparationAssess and optimize financial systems, reporting processes, and internal controlsBalance strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational executionQUALIFICATIONS:Proven experience as a Controller within a nonprofit organizationStrong expertise in full-cycle accounting and financial oversightExperience presenting financials to executive leadership and boardsHands-on leadership style with the ability to manage cross-functional teamsCPA preferred and proficiency with systems such as Blackbaud Financial Edge, ADP, ABRA, and Microsoft OfficeCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:This temporary opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate of $58–$72/hour, depending on experience, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week. The assignment is anticipated to last approximately 3 months, with potential for extension.
