Applied Research Solutions is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Training Division (AFLCMC/WNR) at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. The WNR Division serves as the Air Force’s technical, acquisition, and sustainment authority, delivering comprehensive and mission-critical support to the warfighter.The division oversees a wide range of Air Force systems including Electronic Warfare, Range Systems, Air Combat Training, Command and Control Systems, Advanced Radar Threat Systems, and Combat Survivor Evader Locator systems. WNR also provides ongoing support to depot-level sustainment, Foreign Military Sales (FMS), and partners such as the U.S. Army, Navy, PACAF, ACC, AFMC, and AETC. The role assists government leadership with systems engineering planning, execution, technical oversight, and lifecycle management to ensure compliance with program specifications and mission objectives.Duties include, but are not limited to:Systems Engineering & Technical OversightConduct program and portfolio reviews to evaluate technical baselines, alternative plans, system designs, and test resultsDesign and perform system-level tests to ensure subsystem and overall system performance meets approved specificationsValidate systems through development of evaluation criteria and analysis of engineering resultsPrepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations supporting planning, implementation, and corrective actionsAcquisition & Lifecycle SupportProvide engineering support across acquisition phases including material solution analysis, technology maturation, engineering and manufacturing development, production, deployment, installation, and operations oversightSupport proposal analysis activities by evaluating technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectivenessAssist with source documentation including ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, AoAs, Military Utility Assessments, CONOPS, Technology Development Strategies, FCAs/PCAs, and Technology Standards ProfilesTechnical Management & Configuration ControlSupport requirements definition and analysis, architecture design and implementation, system integration, verification and validationProvide engineering support for risk management, configuration management, technical data management, interface management, and version control processesAssist in development of Systems Engineering Plans (SEP), Risk Management Plans (RMP), and other acquisition documentationTrade Studies & Risk ManagementConduct formal trade studies evaluating performance, cost effectiveness, lifecycle cost, reliability, maintainability, productivity, risk, and schedule impactsProvide independent assessments of system readiness for production and risk mitigationTechnical Reviews & AssessmentsSupport planning and execution of technical reviews such as System Requirements Reviews (SRR) and Technology Readiness Assessments (TRA)Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation and ensure proper linkage between systems-of-systems architecturesOther Duties as AssignedQualificationsCitizenship: Must be a U.S. citizenMinimum Required QualificationsClearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Secret clearanceEducation & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a professional engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program with 12 years of directly related experience, including 5 years in a DoD environmentOR15 years of directly related experience with 8 years in a DoD environmentRequired Experience & KnowledgeRequirements development across production, deployment, operations, and sustainmentArchitecture development and implementationModeling and Simulation, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principlesVerification & Validation (V&V)Technical data package development and sustainmentConfiguration management principlesNetwork architectures, embedded systems, and application deployment across hardware platformsCloud deployment and virtualization environmentsFamiliarity with DoD acquisition processes including Technology Maturation, Risk Reduction, Engineering Manufacturing Development (EMD), and Production & DeploymentDesired ExperienceFamiliarity with Electronic Warfare and/or Air Combat operationsExperience with live aircrew training and TTP developmentRange infrastructure architectures and systemsFamiliarity with foreign ground radarPreferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree in a professional engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program with 10 years of directly related experience, including 5 years in a DoD environmentAdditional InformationPosition supports Foreign Military Sales (FMS) workload (FMS experience preferred but not required)All positions at Applied Research Solutions are subject to background investigations.
