MechanicCompany: Cashman Dredging and Marine Contracting Company, LLCLocation: Baltimore, MDEmployment Type: Full-Time, Non-ExemptPosition SummaryThe Master Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy construction equipment used in dredging and marine construction operations. This position supports field operations by ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mobile crawler cranes, barge-mounted cranes, conveyors, pay loaders, excavators, and other earth-moving equipment. The Master Mechanic performs advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair activities across multiple job sites.Primary Work LocationsBaltimore, MDWork ScheduleFull-time, 40 hours per weekFlexible schedule required, including occasional nights and weekendsResponsibilitiesPerform inspection, diagnosis, repair, and routine maintenance on heavy construction equipment, including mobile crawler cranes, barge-mounted cranes, conveyors, pay loaders, excavators, and other earth-moving equipment.Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate repair or replacement solutions.Perform field maintenance and emergency repair activities as required.Read, understand, and interpret hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings.Operate mechanical boom and cable equipment to troubleshoot issues and verify proper operation after repairs.Inspect, test, and evaluate repaired or modified equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using appropriate diagnostic and testing tools.Coordinate and prioritize job site maintenance and repair activities.Clean, lubricate, and perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.Maintain accurate knowledge of operating manuals, parts manuals, and service documentation.Make recommendations for equipment repairs, upgrades, or replacement following failures.Maintain a clean and orderly work area and comply with all safety rules, regulations, and company policies.Preferred Qualifications4-5 years of experience performing maintenance and repairs on cranes and heavy construction equipment.Experience working with mobile crawler cranes and barge-mounted cranes.Experience operating earth-moving equipment, including pay loaders and excavators.Experience with conveyors and a wide range of construction equipment.Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).Experience maintaining and repairing CAT, Cummins, and John Deere equipment preferred.Ability to use manufacturer diagnostic software.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Position RequirementsAbility to work on-site and travel to field locations as required.Physically capable of performing work in varying weather conditions and temperatures.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong initiative and self-direction.Fluent in English (reading, speaking, and writing).Valid driver's license.Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.CompensationSalary range: $45 to $60 an hourEqual Opportunity Employer
