Licensed Propane & Natural Gas Service Technician The Hearth Doctor | Maine The Hearth Doctor is a growing, veteran-owned fireplace and stove company serving homeowners across Maine. We specialize in gas, wood, pellet, and electric fireplaces, stoves, and inserts, and we are known for high-quality work and strong customer experience. We are hiring a licensed Maine Propane and Natural Gas Technician to join our service team. This is a skilled trade position for someone who takes pride in clean, professional work, strong troubleshooting, and treating customers with respect. This is NOT an apprentice or helper role. Applicants must hold an active Maine Propane and Natural Gas Technician license. Role Overview As a Service Technician, you will diagnose, service, and maintain gas fireplaces, inserts, and stoves in residential homes across southern Maine. You’ll represent our company in customers’ homes, solve problems correctly the first time, and uphold the standards that built our reputation. This is a skilled trade position for someone who wants steady work, strong pay, and an opportunity to grow into leadership over time. What You’ll Be Doing Service and troubleshoot gas fireplaces, inserts, and stoves Perform annual cleanings and safety inspections Diagnose ignition systems, gas valves, venting, controls, and related components Communicate clearly with homeowners about findings and solutions Document work performed and parts needed Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle Work safely and professionally in customers’ homes Work is year-round. Winter is busy. Spring and summer focus heavily on service and maintenance. Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable) Valid Maine Propane and Natural Gas Technician license Experience servicing gas heating appliances or similar mechanical systems Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability Professional communication skills in customers’ homes Valid driver’s license and clean driving record Applicants without a valid Maine gas license will not be considered.
