Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.GMC has an opening for Design Professional I to support on-going projects in the Birmingham, ALoffice. The Design Professional provides support to the lead architect in the design, selection, coordination, and detailing of architectural materials and systems.Essential Functions And Responsibilities IncludeAcquires basic knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice areaApplies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasksExercises limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional workAcquires and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilitiesPerforms basic design tasksPerform code and product researchVisits sites to prepare as-built drawings of existing buildingsPrepares construction document drawings in CAD or RevitAssists on other tasks such as preparation of permit applications and project manualsCollects data and gathers information, performs standard computation and analysisCoordinates with engineering consultants on assigned projectsPrepare meeting agendas and document meeting notesResponds to contractors RFIs and communications during constructionReview shop drawings for conformance with construction documentsOccasional site visits to projects during the construction phase to monitor construction progressPerforms any other tasks as needed by SupervisorMinimum QualificationsStrong oral and written communication skillsBachelor’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited architectural programPrevious architectural internship experience preferredMust be able to perform work-related travel and have a valid driver’s licenseMust be local to GMC officeEqual Opportunity Employer/Disability/VeteransAbout GMCWe believe in community, collaboration, and using the power of creativity and hard work to make a difference.
