Injection Mold Tool Room SupervisorLocation: Macomb, MichiganSalary: $100-125kA leading manufacturer serving the medical device, electronics, and consumer products industries is seeking a hands-on Tool Room Supervisor to lead a high-performing, state-of-the-art tooling operation.This is a leadership role for someone who has grown through the tool room, not transitioned away from it. The ideal candidate brings deep, recent mold-building experience and is ready to take full ownership of in-house tooling operations.What You'll DoLead tool room operations from mold design through full productionSupervise a cross-functional team of mold makers, mold designers, and maintenance staffAct as the technical liaison between customers, engineering, and program managementManage build scheduling, staffing, and performance across multiple shiftsDrive lean manufacturing, 5S, and preventive maintenance initiativesTroubleshoot and resolve mold and processing-related issues quicklyEnsure compliance with ISO, FDA, and quality standardsMaintain accurate production and audit documentation What You'll Bring (Required)5+ years of current experience supervising an injection mold tool room10+ years of recent hands-on experience as a mold makerProven experience building prototype and multi-cavity production molds (Class 101-104)Strong expertise in mold design, building, and maintenanceAbility to lead teams, solve complex problems, and manage competing prioritiesWorking knowledge of CAD with the ability to review mold designs prior to building Technical Expertise ExpectationsMold BuildingBuilt molds start-to-finish independently using standard tool room equipmentDeep experience with multi-cavity molds, slides, lifters, hydraulics, hot runners, and valve gatesKnowledge of tooling materials, heat treating, coatings, and performance optimizationCAD / CAMAbility to analyze part and mold designs from a DFM perspectiveCapability to review designs before release to buildUnderstanding of cutter paths; advanced programming experience is a plusMolding & ProcessingStrong troubleshooting capability during mold tryouts and productionUnderstanding of how processing variables impact mold performance Leadership & OperationsLead, mentor, and develop tool room personnelOwn scheduling, workload balancing, and on-time deliveryProactively identify delays and adjust prioritiesRepresent the tool room across all internal departmentsLead project reviews, progress updates, and cross-functional meetings Preferred ExperiencePreventive maintenance program leadershipLong-term leadership mindset with interest in growing and scaling the departmentExposure to injection molding processing environments
