Position: Bilingual Instructional Paraprofessional Campus: Dickinson High SchoolWage/Hour Status: NonexemptPaygrade: Per Compensation ManualImmediate Supervisor(s): Campus Principal and Teacher(s) AssignedDays Employed: Per Compensation ManualPOSITION SUMMARY:Provide supplemental assistance for the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements when working with identified ESL or Bilingual studentsWork under the supervision of a certified teacher QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:High School Diploma or GEDMust have completed 30 college hours; ORMet a rigorous standard of quality, demonstrated through a formal State or local academic assessmentValid Texas educational aide certificate Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructionsGood interpersonal skillsAbility to work well with students and staffBilingual (written and oral) Experience:Some experience working with children MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Instructional Support:Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displaysAssist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignmentsHelp maintain a neat and orderly classroomHelp with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipmentHelp teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reportsProvide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers Student Management:Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groupsHelp supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom this includes lunchroom, bus, and playground dutyKeep the teacher informed of the special needs or problems of individual studentsParticipate in staff development training programs to improve job performanceParticipate in faculty meetings and special events as assignedOther duties as assigned EQUIPMENT USED:Copier, computer, audiovisual equipment WORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress.Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting
