DetailsLocationRochester Hills MISalary$23.00 - $25.00JOB SUMMARY:Authority and Decision-Making:• Authority to shut down a machine if employee safety or product quality are not guaranteed.• Authority to validate production startup and end of production runs.•Reporting Structure:• Reports to: Direct: Production SupervisorIndirect: Shift Lead• Direct reports: None (may mentor junior staff or operators depending on level)RESPONSIBILITY:o Production startup efficiency o First-piece quality conformityo Tool setup time optimization o Reduction of downtime and technical issueso Compliance with safety and quality and environmental procedures. o Continuous improvement contributionso Punctuality & Attendance o Scrap rate reductiono 5S oESSENTIAL DUTIES:• Install, set up, and secure progressive stamping dies according to setup sheets.• Configure and adjust feed progression (pitch) and ensure proper strip alignment through all stations.• Synchronize press stroke with automatic feeding systems.• Adjust press parameters including stroke, speed, and feed rate to achieve optimal performance.• Perform tool adjustments to ensure first-piece conformity across all stations.• Conduct dimensional and visual inspections following control plans.• Launch, validate, and monitor serial production.• Detect and correct misfeeds, strip tracking issues, and station misalignment.• Troubleshoot tooling and process issues (tool wear, part defects, press deviations).• Perform basic tool maintenance and adjustments as required.• Verify tools and materials comply with production orders.• Detect, report, and troubleshoot malfunctions.• Adjust peripheral equipment and control devices.• Record setup operations in logs/documentation.• Train and support operators, temporary workers, or junior die setters.• Participate in continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:o High School Diploma or equivalent - Technical Preferred.o Minimum of 3 years of related experience in metal stamping - progressive dies.o Experience in automotive industry preferred.o 5+ years experience for advanced/senior level positions.Hard Skills and Knowledge:o Strong mechanical aptitude and tooling knowledge o Understanding of quality, safety, and environmental procedureso Ability to read and interpret technical drawings o Familiarity with production IT systemso Knowledge of progressive die stamping processeso Experience with coil feeding systems and strip progression o Ability to set and adjust production equipment and peripheralso Experience with measurement and inspection toolso Forklift or crane certification is a plus oSoft Skills and Mindset:o Attention to detail and precision o Technical curiosity and adaptabilityo Problem-solving and analytical thinking o Ability to train and support otherso Continuous improvement mindset o
