Fleet Shop Supervisor

As the Fleet Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for the supervision of a variety of daily operations and positions including Automotive Mechanics, Equipment Service Maintenance Specialists, Maintenance Planner Schedulers and Supervisor I positions.Our ideal candidate will be known for building cohesive teams and who establishes and maintains positive relationships with employees, vendors, and coworkers. Success in this role comes from your ability to lead people effectively and manage operations with confidence, regardless of your background or industry experience.ABOUT FLEET SERVICES DIVISIONThe Fleet Services Division manages King County's portfolio of vehicles and equipment. The team performs acquisition, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of approximately 3,000 fleet assets for the County's services associated with the Sheriff's Office, Public Health, Roads, Parks, Wastewater, Water and Land Resources, and other agencies. The division manages two maintenance shops which include robust storerooms of automotive parts, materials, and construction supplies as well as several technicians working in the field to support remote customer sites.In addition, the Fleet Division is responsible for the disposition of the county's personal property assets, which includes a surplus warehouse in Georgetown. Disposal methods can include re-use within the county, donation to verified and approved non-profits, and sales through online portals or sealed/negotiated bids.The mission of the Fleet Services Team is to provide exceptional customer service in the delivery of equitable, sustainable, and dependable fleet solutions.To learn more about Fleet, please visit our website at: Fleet Services Division - King County, Washington.SCOPE OF JOB DUTIESThe successful candidate, at a minimum, will demonstrate skill or ability to:Provide daily direction to operations staff and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.Provide leadership and supervision including direction, assistance, recognition, time management, attendance, coaching, and supporting growth and development.Work with teams on continuous process improvement and provide leadership in employee engagementOversee planning and performance management of operations staff — assigning, coordinating, and supervising work of employees at multiple sites and ensuring accountability and adherence to work performance standards and goals.Assist the Fleet Operations Manager in planning and monitoring budget expenditures for operations.Evaluate staffing needs and assist in screening and selecting employees, including developing field tests, interviewing candidates, and making hiring recommendations.Provide excellent customer service in day-to-day interactions with internal and external customers.Ensure day-to-day management of work units are consistent with terms of applicable collective bargaining agreements and applied fairly to all covered employees.WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO:Have a strong background and experience in leading diverse teams to deliver results.Have demonstrated strong leadership through clear decision-making, accountability, coaching, and the ability to guide teams through change while maintaining trust and alignment.Demonstrate strong leadership through clear decision-making, accountability, coaching, and the ability to guide teams through change while maintaining trust and alignment.Is a champion for Equity & Social Justice. Willing to pitch in to help other team members.Have proactive time management skills and successfully complete tasks on time and supporting team members to complete tasks on time. Enjoys juggling multiple competing priorities with tight timelines and efficiently prioritizes work.Have the ability to effectively respond after hours to support customers during emergencies and/or natural disasters which could include flooding, snow/ice events, windstorms and earthquakes.Are comfortable using office productivity tools, relational databases, and payroll/financial systems in their daily work (the County uses Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft Time & Labor, and Faster for Fleet Management).Work Schedule: This position is Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is not overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday.Work Location: The primary work location for this role is at the Georgetown Shop (707 S.
