Details Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in acute leukemia and hematology patients, including newly diagnosed cases Patient population includes adults and geriatrics Target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with a possible maximum of 1:5 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week Day/night rotating contracts are also available, with shift assignments reviewed each 4-week scheduling period Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs No set or blocked scheduling — self-scheduling requests are accepted prior to schedule finalization Charting is done via Epic (experience required) No chemo certification required Requirements Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Required certifications: BLS and ACLS Preferred certifications: ONS Chemotherapy Certification and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation Experience with blood product administration, IV therapy, and phlebotomy Experience with central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care Experience with feeding tube care and management Experience starting IVs Experience with Rapid Response Team protocols Epic EMR experience required Additional Information Unit has a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention Orientation consists of the first week on day shift (Mon–Fri), followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor Travelers who have previously worked at OSU Wexner do not require a 30-day break between assignments to change representation First-time travelers will be considered — submissions are screened and forwarded to the client for review 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration American Traveler Job ID P-687800.
