Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission aligned Assistant Director with the Facilities Department.The Assistant Director will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.The position entails assisting the Director of Facilities with operations and compliance with the 28 HCZ locations. Here's 7 Things You Need to Know.RequirementsMust have a Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of related experience or High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of experience Must be able to successfully pass fingerprinting and background check Who You AreMust be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power PointMust pass fingerprint background check and Physical/TB testMust have or be willing to obtain IFMA Certification & FDNY CertificationsWhat You'll DoPrepare and maintain RFP's, bid information and other contract documents for repairsWork with Director preparing and executing contractsSchedule and monitor contractual workMonitor receipt of invoices that they are submitted within a month of completion of serviceCoordinate with contracting companies to schedule all monthly, quarterly and annual inspectionsClear ECB, FDNY, DOB violations by correcting issues and submitting necessary documents and/or paymentEnsure compliance with FDNY, ECB, DOB, DOH regulationsKeep all site building permits up to dateAssist in managing department budgetAssist in forecasting staffing budgetSchedule and assist in interviewing new hiresLiaison between employees and Human ResourcesOversee Payroll submissionOversee org-wide custodial supply ordersMaintain site LEED CertificationSupervise Facility Coordinator and InternsAssists the Director of Facilities with other tasks as necessaryScheduleMonday - Friday, Monday-Friday 10 AM-6 PMThis position requires on-call availability BenefitsBenefitsAs a member of the Harlem Children's Zone team, you will join a supportive and inclusive community dedicated to helping children, families — and our staff — thrive.
