Estimator Irvine, CA 92618 Reports To: Chief EstimatorRegion: CompanywidePay Scale: $100,000 - $140,000 OVERVIEW:Responsible for preparing project estimates for the assigned office, including conceptual, negotiated, and competitive bid estimates. This role collaborates with project managers, internal support teams, and clients to develop accurate, well-supported cost estimates while following established procedures and guidance ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:This position requires the skills to accomplish the following minimum duties, plus other duties that may be assignedPrepare commercial and residential estimates in accordance with established bid procedures and company standardsAssist with subcontractor bid evaluations, including trade coverage review, scope alignment, and proposal qualification checksParticipate in client, design, and internal meetings during the preconstruction phase as neededReview plans, specifications, bidding requirements, and owner submission requirements to support accurate bids and budgetsAssist in preparing bid and budget proposals, including general conditions, trade cost breakdowns, clarifications, exclusions, and required owner bid formsReview "For Contract" drawing lists to verify accuracy and completenessReview plans and specifications for accuracy and assist with the preparation, tracking, and distribution of RFIs during preconstructionPerform trade-specific quantity takeoffs to support bid and budget developmentRespond to subcontractor questions related to bidding under the direction of senior preconstruction staff when requiredSupport value engineering exercises and cost study effortsAssist in preparing subcontractor comparison sheets for evaluation and reviewPrepare estimate turnover documentation for handoff to project teamsAssist with assembling owner and project manager bid booksSupport project teams during post-bid buyout activitiesPrepare subcontractor call lists and follow up to help ensure adequate bid coverageAttend job walks during the preconstruction phase and assist with subcontractor coordinationMaintain positive, professional working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal team members QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for this position, an individual must satisfy the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferredMinimum of three (3) years of experience in the construction industry performing responsibilities similar to those outlined above preferred COMPETENCIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following: Technical & Software ProficiencyIntermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Office 365 Applications (Word, Excel, Teams, MS 10/11 and Outlook)Intermediate level in Procore or similar database management softwareBeginning to intermediate level understanding of digital images, google docs, SharePoint, OneDrive and similar document management systems Organizational SkillsStrong organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to prioritize work assignmentsExtreme attention to detailTalent for performing multiple tasks simultaneously, quickly and accurately under pressureResourceful and responsivePunctual and reliable attendance during regular hours Communication SkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProfessional in both demeanor and appearanceDiscretion and maturity in managing confidential informationExceptional judgment – knowing when to ask for more informationCapacity to manage stressful situations without impacting job performance ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., sit, walk, stand, bend, lift, twist, turn, and reachThe employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
