The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and agile startup environment and is committed to delivering high-quality product experiences.Your ImpactBuild and scale Android automation framework from scratch using Kotlin and EspressoMaintain and expand iOS automation suite using XCUITest and SwiftDefine and drive mobile automation strategy and best practicesImprove test coverage, reliability and execution speedIntegrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable faster and safer releasesPartner with engineering, product and QA teams to deliver high-quality user experiencesIdentify gaps in testing and proactively improve quality processesDebug and resolve flaky tests and automation failures at scaleEvaluate tools and introduce new automation innovations (AI, intelligent testing)We're Looking for Someone Who5+ years of experience as an SDET or Software Engineer in mobile (Android-focused) environmentsExperience building scalable Android automation frameworks from scratchStrong experience with Espresso and/or UIAutomator using KotlinExperience writing, executing and maintaining automated test suitesExperience building reusable test frameworks, tools and utilitiesExperience with unit, integration and end-to-end testing of Android applicationsExperience testing complex user workflows and edge casesExperience supporting automation for large-scale mobile applicationsPreferred experience with Jetpack Compose testingNice to have experience with real-time / streaming applicationsNice to have cross-platform exposure (iOS - XCUITest)Strong understanding of Android architecture (MVVM, Jetpack, lifecycle)Understanding of mobile app performance, reliability and edge casesExperience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions or similar)Experience integrating automation into release workflowsExperience debugging flaky tests and improving stabilityFamiliarity with device farms (Firebase Test Lab, AWS Device Farm, Sauce Labs)Understanding of QA methodologies for mobile releasesStrong problem-solving and debugging skillsOwnership mindset with end-to-end quality responsibilityAbility to collaborate across engineering, product and manual QA teamsStrong verbal and written communication skillsNice to have experience testing AI/ML-based featuresBonus PointsDebugging flaky tests at scaleAPI + backend validation for mobile flowsPerformance testing basicsExperience with AI-driven test optimizationAbout Otter.aiWe are in the business of shaping the future of work.
