We are looking for candidates who welcome a challenge, are eager to collaborate and contribute to the success of students, are ready to engage in two-way partnership with families, and who will contribute their diverse talents to the organization as a whole.JOB GOAL: The Special Education Teacher will support students who receive some or all academic instruction in a substantially separate settingQUALIFICATIONS:Masters Degree in Special EducationMassachusetts Licensure as a Teacher of Special Education (Moderate or Severe Disabilities)Ability to coordinate classroom instruction for multiple learners with diverse learning stylesProven ability to coordinate the efforts of classroom teachers, teacher assistants, and other related specialistsKnowledge of multiple formal and informal assessment tools and methodsSkill in interacting with parents of students in classStrong written and verbal communication skills.Training in Trauma Sensitive practicesExperience working with students who have a variety of learning disabilities, cognitive and intellectual disabilities, social and emotional disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorder. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Work collaboratively with general and special educators, related service providers,and teaching assistants to design and implement effective instruction for students in accordance with students' IEPs, social, emotional, and academic needs.Assess for special education eligibility, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs in compliance with all state and federal regulations and timelines governing the delivery of special education services.Monitor and document student progress in compliance with all state and federal regulations governing the delivery of special education services.Provide specialized instruction for each student as neededCreate and maintain student schedulesCoordinate with related service providers in working with students on the caseloadCoordinate the activities of classroom assistants, including providing inclusion opportunities as called for in students' IEPsOther related duties as assigned by Principal or Special Education CoordinatorTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 DaysREPORTS TO: Special Education Coordinator and Building PrincipalSALARY/BENEFITS: Per AEA, Unit A Contract
