American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Cardiac Cath Lab for a travel nursing job in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Cardiac Cath LabDiscipline: RNStart Date: 06/26/2026Duration: 13 weeks40 hours per weekShift: 8 hours, daysEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Days, 5x8hrsHours: 40 hrs/wkStart Date: Jun 26, 2026Length: 13 weeksOpenings: 2DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab position requiring at least 2 years of relevant experience and proficiency in a wide range of cardiac and interventional procedures.DetailsHospital-based Cardiac Catheterization Lab setting, covering both diagnostic and interventional proceduresPatient population includes a range of cardiovascular diagnoses including coronary artery disease (stable angina, unstable angina/NSTEMI, STEMI), heart failure, valvular disease, congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, pericardial disease, and pre-operative cardiac evaluations1:1 patient ratioProcedures performed include PCI (balloon angioplasty and stent placement), PFO/ASD closure, CTO, cardiogenic shock management, left and right heart catheterizations, IABP placement/removal, and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoringPreferred procedural experience includes Impella insertion, TAVI/TAVR, rotablader atherectomy, ASD/cardiac implant closure devices, scrub procedures, and vascular interventions (angioplasty, upper/lower extremity angiography, dialysis graft interventional)Major equipment used includes Impella, Penumbra, EKOS, Roto, Ultrasound, Shockwave, ACIST, and the GE Mac Lab systemEMR: Epic (documentation); Pyxis (medications); SBAR (communication)Schedule: Days, 5x8-hour shifts (06:45–15:15), Monday–FridayOccasional late days approximately 4–5 times per month, rarely extending past 17:00Call requirement: one day per week and every fifth weekendFloating required as neededRequirementsActive NC RN license or compact RN license (license/certs may be pending at time of consideration)Current certifications: BLS and ACLSMinimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience requiredProficiency in cardiac medications including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics, procedural sedation, and reversal agentsSkills required include 12-lead EKG interpretation, ACT monitoring, cardioversion, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, sheath removal and monitoring, procedural sedation monitoring, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale, malignant hyperthermia protocols, and infection/isolation precautionsIV therapy skills required: blood product administration, IV infusion pumps, and starting IVsTwo professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months are highly preferredAdditional InformationOrientation is 16 hours; orientation is held weekly and no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignmentPre-start modules are required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles) and must also be completed annually; modules are completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classesScrubs are providedCandidates must be available for a manager interview prior to any offer being extendedCandidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidaysUp to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved provided it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approvalPrevious permanent, PRN, or employed staff of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is requiredLocal candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a different rateTravel pairs are allowed, but each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedulesFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-710511.
