We are seeking a highly motivated Litigation Associate to serve the litigation-related needs of this client base.Position Overview:We are looking for a Litigation Associate with sharp political acumen to join a team of A-players. You will represent political candidates, parties, PACs, tax-exempt entities, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals in civil litigation and government investigations related to their political participation. This includes everything from gathering information for third-party discovery to assisting with move-the-needle impact litigation cases that clarify, refine, and change the landscape in the political law arena. You will also support the firm’s clients on compliance with federal, state, and local campaign finance, election, and ethics laws. The ideal candidate has experience these subject areas, but candidates with a strong litigation background who are eager to deepen their understanding of substantive political and tax-exempt organization law are also encouraged to apply. Candidates must be comfortable working on matters involving Republican and center-right candidates, committees, and causes. Key Responsibilities:Advise clients on compliance with relevant federal and state laws and regulations (i.e., campaign finance, lobbying, government ethics, and pay-to-play).Support senior litigation attorneys with civil litigation and responses to government investigations.Provide pre-litigation counseling and risk-mitigation advice; negotiate settlements if appropriate.Develop case strategy in collaboration with senior litigation attorneys and partners. Coordinate discovery, including e-discovery, document review and production.Research and draft motions including dispositive motions and requests for extraordinary relief.Assist team with preparing and presenting cases at evidentiary hearings and at trial. Assist senior attorneys in researching and drafting filings in federal and state appellate courts.Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring excellent service and communication.Qualifications:J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Texas or District of Columbia would be a plus).Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience, (e.g. mid-size to large law firm; government agency or department; public interest law firm; or similar).Superior written and oral advocacy skills.Strong analytical, organizational, and case management skills.Ability to handle multiple high-stakes matters simultaneously.Experience with case strategy, discovery, depositions, briefing dispositive motions, and trial preparation.Familiarity with e-discovery tools and best practices in managing electronically stored information.
