Job TitleVault Cashier I - C Pay Rate Min to Mid Range$17.55 - $20.18 Time TypeFull time SummaryDuties and Responsibilities:Receives, compiles and sorts checks and currency collected from the Motor Vehicle and Property Tax sections Endorses, encodes and microfilms checks Verifies, summarizes and balances accounts Posts account transactions in ledger Prepares bank deposit slips and bank transfers Monitors, balances and issues change from cash box to authorized individuals in the Tax Office Prepares checks to individual parties and various entities such as the County Clerk, State Highway Department, Tax Attorneys, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and taxing jurisdictions Assists the Lead Vault Cashier with researching and reconciling any missing items such as debits and credits Performs related duties as required Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and one (1) year accounting or bookkeeping experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of basic accounting, bookkeeping and cash handling procedures. Skill in operating a personal computer, 10-key adding machine, cashiering/checking equipment and basic office equipment. Ability to balance ledger books; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees, outside organizations and the general public. Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test Must be able to maintain an effective attendance record/pattern May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek Working Environment and Physical Demands:Working conditions are inside an office environment Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 10-20 lbs. occasionally Occasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard, 10-key adding machine, and basic office equipment.
