System Engineer

ResponsibilitiesDeploy and configure Windows Server systems across enterprise hardware and virtual environmentsInstall, administer, and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems via command lineConfigure and troubleshoot networking components including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and interfacesDeploy and manage virtual machines using Microsoft Hyper-V and related technologiesExecute and troubleshoot PowerShell and Bash scripts for automation and system administrationPerform system validation, testing, and troubleshooting across environmentsSupport system patching, updates, and security hardening effortsEvaluate system security posture and assist with vulnerability remediationCreate and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and deployment guidesCollaborate with engineering and operations teams to support infrastructure across multiple environmentsInterface directly with end users and stakeholders to resolve technical issues Required Qualifications & Skills4+ years of experience in systems administration, engineering, or infrastructure supportExperience supporting Windows Server environmentsExperience working with Linux systems (RHEL preferred) via command lineHands-on experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V or similar)Experience with scripting (PowerShell and/or Bash)Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)Experience troubleshooting system performance, logs, and configuration issuesExperience with system patching, updates, and security practicesStrong communication skills and ability to work in team-oriented environmentsAbility to work in a travel-heavy role (approx. 70%) Security & CertificationsActive DoD Secret clearance (Highly preferred) or ability to obtain one after hireAbility to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification Preferred QualificationsExperience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)Familiarity with DISA STIG or security/compliance frameworksExposure to Helm, microservices, or modern infrastructure environmentsExperience working in fast-paced, growth-oriented technical environments
