Technical Writer – Machine Learning / Developer DocumentationThis is a 6-month, full-time (40 hours/week), remote contract role working PST hours.SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to lead developer-facing documentation for an on-device machine learning platform and its supporting frameworks. This role will focus on shaping content strategy, defining information architecture, and producing high-quality technical documentation that enables developers to effectively build, optimize, and deploy ML solutions.Our Ideal Candidate6+ years of experience in technical writing, with a focus on developer documentation for machine learning or AI platformsPassion for machine learning and developer experience, with a strong foundation in translating complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly contentProficient in documentation tools and workflows, with strong skills in technical writing, content structuring, and API/SDK documentationFamiliar with ML frameworks and tools such as PyTorch, Core ML, ONNX, and Python-based ML workflowsSkilled in collaborating with engineering, product, and cross-functional technical teamsAble to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyFlexible and adaptable to changing priorities, timelines, and stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication with exceptional attention to detailExperience supporting developer conferences or launch-driven documentation cycles is a plusJob DescriptionIn this role, you will lead the creation and execution of developer-facing documentation for an on-device ML platform.You’ll partner with engineering teams to build deep technical understanding and translate complex machine learning and AI concepts into clear, accurate, and developer-friendly documentation. This includes platform overviews, getting started guides, workflow tutorials, API/SDK references, and troubleshooting resources.You will also define and maintain information architecture, ensure consistency across documentation sets, align terminology, and support ongoing updates across APIs, optimization tooling, framework integrations, and developer tools—helping drive a cohesive and scalable documentation ecosystem.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experienceBackground in developer documentation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or software engineeringExperience with concepts such as model conversion and compression, quantization and optimization, and hardware-accelerated inferenceAdditional RequirementsThis opportunity is remote and requires working PST hoursThe pay for this W-2 position is $93.28 per hourThis position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.Mathys+Potestio values applicants of all backgrounds and experiences.
