The RN coordinates, delegates, and provides direct nursing care for patients by working cooperatively with patients, family members, and all patient care team members. The RN provides supervision for patient team members in accordance with their level of training and the patient's acuity.DutiesConducts an initial and on-going assessment designed to gather data relevant to the patient's individual needs taking into consideration specific needs for ageReview of assessments of patients: Respiratory; Cardiac; Neurologic; Renal; Multisystem and PsychosocialIn collaboration with the patient families, implements a plan of care:Identifies nursing diagnoses or problems based on patients assessmentsFormulates an etiology for nursing diagnosisIdentifies desired outcomes each nursing diagnosis/problemDetermines nursing intervention to reach outcomesPrioritizes patient care activitiesBegins discharge planningProvides, delegates and supervises care for medical and surgical patientsEvaluates patient's response to interventions/reassesses and documents on patient's recordEstablishes priorities for patient care activitiesDelegates nursing activities to appropriate staffReports changes in patient's status to charge nurse or physician, and staff caring for patientDocuments nursing care consistent with hospital charting standardsComplies with hospital policy for receiving doctors' orders, including verbal and phoneOrients patients and family to unit environment as ableRelates unit policy regarding visitors to family and friendsAccurately gives report to oncoming shiftReport extraordinary patient problems to supervisor, Nurse Executive or administrator as necessaryPerforms other duties as assigned Other Info: Lifting Requirements: Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
