Manufacturing Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to oversee the design, fabrication, and maintenance of glass melting equipment. In this role, you will apply your expertise in SolidWorks, FEA analysis, and materials science to optimize equipment performance and ensure operational efficiency. Your work will directly impact our production capabilities, ensuring we meet our manufacturing goals.
Responsibilities
Design and model glass melting equipment using SolidWorks, ensuring designs meet performance and safety standards.
Analyze equipment performance through flow, heat transfer, and fatigue modeling software to identify areas for improvement.
Manage the procurement of raw earth materials, refractory, and insulation materials, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
Supervise and mentor a team of welders, masons, and CNC machine operators, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Troubleshoot melting issues related to equipment fabrication and maintenance, providing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Ensure compliance with CoC requirements for all melting equipment, maintaining accurate documentation and records.
Forecast platinum usage and develop recycling plans to optimize resource management and reduce waste.
Oversee shop storage areas utilizing SAP, ensuring efficient organization and inventory control.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Welding Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Proficiency in SolidWorks for design and modeling.
Knowledge of FEA analysis techniques.
Experience with 2D drawing and assembly creation.
Preferred Skills
Welding technology experience.
Refractory cutting, molding, and applications experience.
CNC programming and/or tool and tie experience.
Supervisory leadership experience.
Knowledge of SAP and/or Oracle Software.
