cBEYONData + SMX is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team supporting a Modernized Data Science Platform for a Federal customer. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions, focusing on requirements analysis, business process improvement, and data‐driven decision‐making to support the program's IT transformation and modernization activities.ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a team of Junior developers to develop and deliver capabilities as required by the client.Design new solutions using Databricks (Python, PySpark) to deliver capabilities meeting business functional requirements.Analyze and design modifications to existing data model solutions as needed.Define test cases and verify test results to ensure solutions are functioning as designed.Build data models and reports using datasets from ERPs and legacy systems.Required Skills / ExperienceU.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret security clearance.Ability to work 2 days per week onsite at the Taylor Building in Crystal City.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.10 years of related work experience.Strong analytical, problem‐solving, and decision‐making skills.Prior experience leading a team of Junior developers to deliver software capabilities on 2 or more projects.Minimum 5 years of hands‐on development experience with Python and PySpark.Experience with Databricks, developing data pipelines and workflow automation.Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.Army functional knowledge and proven experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation.Familiarity with database design and architecture; relational and non‐relational.Ability to work cross‐functionally and participate in discussions.Knowledge of cloud architecture: commercial cloud vendors (AWS/Azure).Competence with software engineering tools and processes (estimation, issue tracking, version control, debugging, etc.).Proven ability to work independently on assigned tasks without supervision.Proven experience in knowledge sharing (code reviews, solid documentation).Driven, self‐directed personality.Strong sense of mission and commitment to making a difference.Desired Skills / ExperienceExperience implementing RESTful APIs.Exceptional communication skills and the ability to foster positive outcomes from diverse interests of people and teams.Experience working with the DoD.Experience working with GFEBS or other SAP ERP systems.Compensation$125,000 – $180,000 USD per year.LocationCrystal City, VA (requires 2 days onsite per week).Equal Opportunity EmployerSMX is an Equal Opportunity employer including disabilities and veterans.#J-18808-Ljbffr
