#Eng-IT-01Structural Engineer (Mid- Level)Location: Remote in Arizona, California, Utah, Colorado, Nevada and New MexicoStatus: 6 month contract with potential extensionsCompensation: $56 to $64 per hourExperience level: 4+ years of experience in Structural Engineering and E.I.T or Professional Engineer licenseSUMMARY:As a Structural Engineering Associate, you will be an integral member of the design team counted on to assist in the performance of Structural analysis and design for our projects. You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills as you work closely with your Structural Lead, Structural Engineers, Structural Designers, and other disciplines. As part of this team, you will help develop design concepts, complete the analysis and design, and work with our Designers to get the structural requirements communicated on design documents and in the model.It is expected that you are developing a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Structural Engineering, are gaining experience in multiple subject areas, and are learning how Structural design integrates with and impacts other disciplines. You will be given as much responsibility as you are willing to take, and your opportunities for career growth will be limited only by your own motivation, capabilities, and attitude.ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision, competently perform all conventional aspects of Structural Engineering analysis and designPlan and conduct work requiring judgement in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteriaExercise sound engineering judgement and problem-solving skills, not hesitating to reach out to others for guidance or confirmation when questions arisePossess knowledge of principles and practices of lateral analysis and design (wind and seismic), including ability to apply required provisions of the building codeExhibit a high level of attention to detail and quality controlCommitted to checking your own work, reaching out to peers and seniors for guidance when questions arisePerform calculation checking of other engineers' workTake responsibility for managing workload, make and keep commitments, and take full ownership of assigned workTake complete ownership of your portion of the structural scope, reliably working to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirementsYou may be given tasks with ill-defined conditions of satisfaction, in which case you will be expected to take the initiative to determine what is needed to meet the project and client needsClearly define your own scope and start to develop your ability to forecast level of effort needed to complete that scopeBe ready to identify scope change and escalate it to your Structural LeadRecognize when help is needed, reaching out to peers and senior engineers for guidanceWork in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner with strong attention to detailDeveloping leadership skillsProvide technical guidance, coaching, and/or mentorship to designers/drafters and less experienced engineersBe proactive in advancing workflows, systems, and tools within the structural discipline; embrace emerging technologiesEducation:Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural EngineeringQualificationsProfessional Engineer License (PE/PEng)Minimum of 4 years of experience in structural engineeringExperience with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI and AISCExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsPreferred QualificationsMS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or MS degree in Structural EngineeringExperience in semi-conductor industrial or general industrial facilitiesExperience leading small teamsWorking Conditions and RequirementsYour home location must be in Southwest Region (AZ, CA, CO, HI, NM, NV, UT)Employee to provide internet service as required at home to effectively meet project performance requirementsBenefitsPEAK's benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Dependent Care Savings Account (DCA), and 401K plan.
