The successful candidate will lead the design, development, modernization, and support of large-scale EDI ecosystems involving Axway B2Bi, IBM Sterling Integrator (SI), IBM Transformation Extender Advanced (ITXA), Java-based integration applications, and the homegrown CIMS orchestration platform. The role requires strong technical leadership in trading partner onboarding, EDI transformation, secure partner connectivity, orchestration, and end-to-end Order-to-Cash (OTC) and Order-to-Pay (OTP) processes across supply chain environments. Experience Requirements • 10+ years of hands-on experience in EDI/B2B integration architecture, solution design, implementation, and support. • 5+ years of experience leading EDI modernization, migration, onboarding, or transformation initiatives. • Experience supporting high-volume, business-critical B2B transaction environments. • Proven ability to work with suppliers, customers, distributors, carriers, logistics providers, 3PL partners, banks, and internal business teams. Key Responsibilities Architecture and Solution Design • Define enterprise EDI and B2B integration architecture, standards, reference patterns, and engineering best practices. • Design scalable, secure, resilient, and supportable solutions for a large trading partner ecosystem. • Create reusable onboarding, transformation, routing, exception-handling, monitoring, and recovery patterns. • Lead EDI platform modernization, consolidation, and cloud migration initiatives. • Design hybrid integration solutions using EDI, APIs, event-driven services, messaging, and microservices where appropriate. Platform Leadership • Provide architectural and technical guidance across Axway B2Bi, IBM Sterling Integrator, IBM ITXA, CIMS, and Java/J2EE-based integration services. • Drive platform governance, capacity planning, performance tuning, availability, security, and operational excellence. • Establish observability practices covering message tracking, logging, alerting, auditability, SLA monitoring, and root-cause analysis. Trading Partner Management • Lead end-to-end onboarding and lifecycle management for customers, suppliers, carriers, banks, and logistics partners. • Define connectivity, mapping, testing, certification, cutover, validation, and production support standards. • Create reusable partner templates, implementation guides, checklists, and operating procedures. • Collaborate with business teams and external partners to translate requirements into secure, supportable EDI solutions. Business Process Integration Order-to-Cash (OTC) • Customer order intake and validation. • Order acknowledgment and exception management. • Fulfillment, warehouse processing, shipping, and delivery notifications. • Invoicing, payment/remittance, returns, and related downstream processing. Order-to-Pay (OTP) • Supplier ordering and acknowledgment. • Supplier collaboration and advance ship notice processing. • Receiving, invoice validation and matching, and payment/remittance processing. • Exception handling and status visibility across the procurement lifecycle. Required Technical Skills Competency Required knowledge and experience EDI/B2B platforms Axway B2Bi; IBM Sterling Integrator (SI/B2Bi); IBM ITXA; trading partner management tooling. Protocols AS2 and SFTP are mandatory. Exposure to FTP/s, HTTP/S, MQ, JMS Standards and formats ANSI X12, XML, JSON, CSV, delimited and fixed-width flat files, and other partner-specific formats. Transformation ITXA maps, XSLT, data validation, envelope processing, acknowledgments, routing, and canonical transformation patterns. Java technologies Exposure to Java, Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, REST APIs, web services, JMS/MQ, multithreading, exception handling, and performance optimization. Data platforms ERP Oracle and strong SQL skills Knowledge of SAP ECC/S4. JD Edwards Engineering practices Source control, code review, CI/CD, automated testing, release management, monitoring, and production support. EDI Transaction Knowledge Strong working knowledge of supply chain X12 transactions, including the ability to analyze business intent, implementation guides, envelopes, acknowledgments, and partner-specific variations. Non-X12 formats Partner-specific flat files, CSV, fixed-width, XML, JSON, and custom application interfaces. CIMS Orchestration Platform The architect should be capable of understanding, evolving, and supporting Java-based custom orchestration platforms such as CIMS. Relevant responsibilities include: • Workflow orchestration and business-rule execution. • Transaction routing, sequencing, validation, enrichment, and exception handling. • EDI processing lifecycle management and integration with Axway, SI, ITXA, SAP and JD Edwards • Partner onboarding workflows and configuration management. • Message tracking, operational dashboards, audit trails, and support diagnostics. • API and downstream application integration. • Code modernization, technical-debt reduction, performance tuning, and production stability. Leadership and Collaboration • Lead architecture reviews, solution-design workshops, technical assessments, and production-readiness reviews. • Mentor EDI architects, developers, analysts, testers, and support engineers. • Define engineering standards, reusable assets, and architectural governance. • Contribute to estimates, roadmaps, proposals, statements of work, and implementation plans. • Communicate clearly with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, customers, and trading partners. • Drive automation, standardization, continuous improvement, and knowledge management. Preferred Qualifications • Healthcare, pharmaceutical distribution, retail, manufacturing, or logistics domain experience. • Azure cloud, Kubernetes/AKS, Kafka or event-streaming experience. • API management, microservices, and cloud-native integration architecture experience. • DevOps and CI/CD pipeline experience for integration platforms and Java applications. • Experience with AI-assisted EDI operations, partner onboarding automation, or intelligent observability. • Relevant Axway, IBM Sterling, ITXA, Java, cloud, or enterprise architecture certifications. Education • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent relevant professional experience may also be considered. Success Profile The successful candidate will combine deep EDI domain expertise, enterprise architecture leadership, hands-on Java knowledge, and practical experience across Axway B2Bi, IBM Sterling Integrator, IBM ITXA, AS2/SFTP connectivity, CIMS-style orchestration, OTC/OTP business processes, X12 transactions, and flat-file integration. The individual must be comfortable moving between strategic architecture, detailed design, troubleshooting, stakeholder communication, and technical leadership. Core selection criteria: 10+ years in EDI/B2B architecture, strong Axway/SI/ITXA experience, Java capability for CIMS, AS2/SFTP expertise, and end-to-end OTC/OTP supply chain transaction knowledge.
