Job Developer

General Statement of Duties Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, April 27, 2026. Serves as a the Virginia Initiative for Education and Work (VIEW) Case Manager for participants in TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), SNAPET or other assistance programs with employment and self-sufficiency requirements; provides targeted assistance with transitioning program participants from assistance to self-sufficiency; provides case management utilizing an array of supportive services to stabilize each participant's situation and support their efforts in becoming job ready, gaining the job skills, job training or work experience that leads to sustained employment and self-sufficiency; focuses on each participant's strengths, needs and barriers, including their specific family situation, and works with them to develop and implement a plan to support their goals of employment and independence; performs other duties as assigned. Essential Duties Performs assessments and interviews to identify each participant's readiness for and barriers to employment Develops and implements case management plans incorporating VIEW program support services Addresses barriers and challenges to obtaining and maintaining employment Provides supportive services to eliminate barriers to employment and ensure client program mandates are met Counsels participants, monitors progress & compliance Conducts monthly follow ups with clients Works with employers and community partners to develop training and employment opportunities for clients Maintains knowledge of VIEW program policy and effectively explains program requirements Maintains knowledge of VIEW program policy and effectively explains program requirements Effectively communicates with TANF Benefit worker Participation in unit, division, agency & community meetings and on committees and task forces related to the work of the department Participation in shelter team operations as designated by the Emergency Operations Center Performs other duties as assigned Considerable knowledge of current social, economic and health concerns; considerable knowledge of the federal Social Security Act and of casework philosophy, methods and practices; considerable knowledge of individual and group behavior and of current literature and trends in the social work field; knowledge of community resources available to meet clients needs; ability to make independent judgments; ability to understand and interpret laws and regulations and to deal effectively with the public; ability to plan and organize work; ability to gather facts and report them accurately and to write reports. Minimum Qualifications Four (4) year degree in social work or other relevant field, relevant master's level degree preferred; and one (1) year of relevant experience preferred; OR, a ny equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Additional Information Valid driver's license to perform assigned duties at various locations. May be required to travel and work a flexible schedule.
