Project Manager - Ground Up Multifamily Projects - Chicago

Job SummaryWe’re looking for a driven Project Manager to lead midsized, ground up Multifamily construction projects (typically between $20M and $50M) from early planning through closeout. In this role, you’ll be accountable for project performance and ensuring quality, safety, schedule, and financial results. You’ll work closely with internal teams, field leadership, clients, and partners to deliver exceptional outcomes that reflect our client's standards of excellence.Responsibilities:Lead and mentor project staff including Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents, supporting training, development, and performance management.Maintain strong client relationships while serving as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.Lead proposal development including budgeting, scope definition, cost analysis, and preliminary scheduling.Coordinate preconstruction activities including design reviews, value engineering, subcontractor bidding, permitting, and project planning.Review construction documents for constructability, budget alignment, and schedule feasibility.Oversee day-to-day project execution including subcontractor coordination, schedule management, and field operations.Manage project budgets, job cost tracking, change orders, and overall project profitability.Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with project requirements.Enforce company safety standards and implement project-specific safety and quality control programs.Review and approve invoices, pay applications, and monthly project financial reporting.Facilitate communication between owners, design teams, subcontractors, and internal project staff.Coordinate punch list completion, project closeout documentation, warranties, and final deliverables including as-builts and O&M manuals.Skills Required:6-10 years of experience in residential/commercial construction with a thorough understanding of construction systems, phasing, logistics, scheduling and estimatingBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or ArchitectureExcellent interpersonal and written communication skillsExcellent leadership, organizational and managerial skills
