REC SUMMER CAMP - ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Position is open until filledGeneral Description:Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with the supervision and management of a program site, its staff and its participants. This includes:monitoring staff performance,enforcing rules and maintaining a safe environment,planning and organizing activities, andManaging administrative duties.Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Available for the entirety of summer camp 6/22/26 - 8/14/26, which includes training. This position also requires pre-camp meetings and extensive planning through the spring and early summer.Attends Epi-Pen, DCF mandated reporter and Medication and Administering Certification training.Assists in supervising program staff, ensuring that they are providing activities that are fun and safe for program participants.Assists in planning and implementing daily activities to provide organization and structure to the program.Assists in the inspection and evaluation of program staff for superior levels of customer service, which is demonstrated by treating all program participants with respect and dignity (including children).Assists in the scheduling of staff in accordance with program attendance and lunch breaks.Assists in handling parental complaints and concerns in a professional, empathetic manner, reinforcing our commitment to customer service.Always maintains a professional demeanor and attitude to demonstrate the importance of customer service.Assists in keeping accurate records of attendance, emergencies and behavior issues for all children for follow up and documentation when needed.Attends and plans scheduled staff meetings.Inspects, or assign a staff person to inspect, site areas such as bathrooms, parking lots, for hazards or suspicious activities in order to maintain a safe program.Provides written reports of accidents or incidents immediately to the Summer Camp. Supervisor/Program Administrator so they may follow-up with appropriate action.Enforce department rules and policies for the benefit of all participants.Inspect that general cleaning of program site is taking place to maintain safety.Assign a staff person to perform daily inventory of program supplies inspecting for shortages or damages and report results to supervisor.Adherence to the employee manual to promote consistency in the staff.Assists camp supervisor as needed.Performs other duties as assigned.Conditions and Equipment: Requires some heavy lifting, working outdoors, sneakers and/or safe footwear always required. Staff shirt must be worn on all days at camp.Qualifications/Specifications:CPR/First Aid/AED certified.Must be able to give effective directions and supervision of staff.Must be able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.Must demonstrate good decision-making abilities especially in emergency situations.Must have a positive personality and the ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity and success.Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with both children and adults in a mature manner.Must be sensitive to the needs of children and have knowledge of their limitations.Must have a high school diploma/G.E.D.Some college or related work experience required.Must be 18 years or older.AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY/AFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYERDisclaimerThe duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.
