Payroll Manager

A Day in Your Life at MKS:We are seeking a Payroll Manager to report to the Sr. Payroll Manager, U.S. Payroll. This role will lead day-to-day payroll operations with a strong focus on U.S. multi-state payroll, tax compliance, labor laws, SOX requirements, and internal controls. The Payroll Manager will oversee payroll staff, ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, drive system enhancements, and partner cross-functionally to support broader business objectives. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in payroll systems, preferably Workday, and hands-on experience managing payroll within a U.S. multi-state manufacturing environment.You Will Make an Impact By:Managing all payroll processes, including but not limited to one-time payments, garnishments, tax forms, direct deposit, bonuses, deductions, and year-end activitiesConfiguring and maintaining time and absence systemsOptimizing payroll processing, participating in system upgrades, and leading payroll-related projectsLeading and managing day-to-day payroll team activities while ensuring service excellence and compliance with corporate policies and SOX controlsCoaching, mentoring, and developing team members through performance management, goal setting, and career developmentServing as a payroll subject matter expert and collaborating with cross-functional partners on payroll-related mattersSkills You Bring:Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, tax laws, and multi-state payroll processingProficiency with payroll systems and a strong understanding of integrations and automated payroll accounting processes; Workday experience preferredAdvanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze and manage payroll data effectivelyStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilitiesProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience5+ years of payroll experience preferred, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership roleThis position is Hybrid and candidates must live within commutable distance to our corporate headquarters in Andover, MA.Compensation and Benefits: Salary Pay Range: $93,000 - $155,000 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
