Design Project Coordinator II, III, or IV: District Portfolio Office (Austin District)
This position provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and complex building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence. Essential Duties: The essential duties for a Design Project Coordinator II, III, or IV include: Reviews and oversees plan packages submitted by consultants. Coordinates design work among TxDOT entities, consultants and contractors. Reviews and compiles complete plan packages for submission to the responsible engineer or architect for review and signature. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. This position requires driving a state vehicle. The additional essential duties for a Design Project Coordinator III or IV include: Develops and prepares consultant work orders and agreements. May lead project or planning activities of professional and technical employees or consultants. Receives project assignments, determines work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate projects already underway. The additional essential duties for a Design Project Coordinator IV include: Serves as lead worker and subject matter expert Designs projects, making design calculations and sketches of plans, layouts and typical sections. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Experience: Design Project Coordinator II: 8 YEARS Design, plan preparation, construction inspection, surveying Design Project Coordinator III and IV: 9 YEARS Design, plan preparation, construction inspection, surveying (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. This position requires technical experience with contract management, some computer aided drafting expertise and project management experience for the design and development of predominantly consultant designed roadway transportation and multimodal projects. Applicants should have experience with contract development, scope of work creation, level of effort and fee negotiations experience as well as schedule management for consultant designed roadway improvement projects. Some of these projects will consist of complex urban and rural safety improvement projects, mobility projects, as well as innovative intersection improvements, main lane widening, retaining wall design, freeway ramp reversals, bridge replacements and complex drainage projects.Assists with project planning and oversight, and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.This position is for ONE (1) Design Project Coordinator II, IIII, IV.
