We are seeking a Folder Gluer Technician to join our team in Commack, NY.In this position, you will be responsible for setting up and operating the Folder Gluer machines.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for setting up and production running of Folder/GluerMachine knowledge including feeder, gluer systems, delivery, and bar code readersExperience with both straight line and auto lock boxesAbility to read customer specifications, job tickets, and follow standard operating proceduresSet up and fine tuning of equipment to reduce stops during operationSet up, adjust, and repair equipment as needed for smooth and trouble-free operationInspect working parts and be able to recognize those that need replacementPerform quality checks and maintain optimum quality at all timesPerform line clearance – clean assigned area by removing all product from line, trash, boxes, and other supplies associated with a completed orderResponsible for general maintenance and lubrication of machinesAssist with housekeeping in the bindery areaBe thoroughly familiar with all areas of finishingFollow all required safety procedures and perform the job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employeesTrain new employees and support staffGive directions to machine crew during production and down-timeAct as a technical resource to other departments and coworkers to address and resolve inquiries and problemsQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required5+ years as a folder gluer machine operatorAbility to work overtime, based on the needs of the businessStrong ability to multi-taskGood verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and part of a teamRequires experience running, troubleshooting, and quality control Ability to perform basic math calculations and maintain production charts and recordsExcellent attendance and punctuality - accurately record work time on a daily basisAble to operate a computer and time clock machinesPhysical RequirementsAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment (24-hour turnaround on product)Aptitude for mechanical operationAdherent to all safety proceduresSuperb attention to detail and product qualityAbility to lift 50 pounds, stand for long hours, use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement, receive and follow instructions, and use visionAbility to regularly sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility.
