Senior Traffic Engineer

We currently have an opening for a Senior Traffic Engineer. The qualified candidate will manage, direct, and oversee a broad range of traffic related activities and provide staff augmentation services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Respond to inquiries or complaints relating to traffic and safety issues. Review and approve signal designs, signing and striping, and traffic control plans. Participate in special events meetings and prepare/coordinate traffic handling plans. Coordinate with developers and consultants on developing project scoping agreements and Traffic Impact Studies. Participate in the work of collecting, tabulating, and analyzing traffic information. Supervise and coordinate the planning and preparation of work orders for the installation, removal or replacement of traffic signs, markings, protective structures, and streetlights. Coordinate with property owner, school groups, public officials and civic organizations regarding traffic-engineering problems. Coordinate Traffic Engineering activities with other City departments divisions, and sections and with outside agencies. Provide staff support and participate in committees, commissions, and citizen groups related to transportation and traffic matters. Conduct field observation regarding traffic-related requests, complaints and concerns. Supervise and participate in traffic and transportation studies conducted by consultants. Prepare a variety of reports, correspondence, and studies. Establish positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff, and the public. Job Requirements / Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. A minimum of 10 years' experience in traffic engineering work in a public agency setting. Valid registration as a Traffic Engineer in the State of California is required. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
