In this role, you will provide critical support to Forensic Engineers and expert witnesses engaged in complex litigation and dispute resolution matters.You will manage project delivery, support legal and technical writing, and serve as a key liaison between clients, experts, and internal teams. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with strong writing skills and a consulting mindset to work at the intersection of engineering, law, and business.ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination & DeliveryManage single- and multi-expert engagements from initiation through close-out, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations and court deadlinesDevelop and maintain detailed project schedules, including milestones, dependencies, and resource allocationTrack budgets, monitor financial performance, and assist with invoicing and cost controlCoordinate logistics for site inspections, evidence collection, and risk assessmentsPrepare and distribute progress reports, status updates, and meeting summariesEnsure compliance with internal quality standards and client-specific requirementsLegal & Technical Writing SupportDraft, edit, and review expert reports, declarations, rebuttal statements, and supporting exhibitsApply consistent formatting, style guides, and legal standards to ensure clarity and accuracyCollaborate with experts to translate complex technical findings into clear, persuasive narrativesCoordinate peer reviews and maintain version control for all deliverablesDevelop and maintain report templates and standardized document frameworksClient & Stakeholder ManagementAct as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned mattersSupport proposal development, including scopes of work, timelines, and fee estimatesAssist with negotiation of terms of appointment and client onboardingBuild and maintain strong client relationships through proactive engagementRepresent HKA at client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunitiesExternal Consultant CoordinationAssist with sourcing, vetting, and onboarding Independent Consulting Experts (ICEs)Manage project-specific agreements, timesheets, and contractual complianceMaintain ongoing communication with ICEs regarding deliverables and timelinesOrganize training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiativesSupport continuous improvement of consultant engagement processesOperational Excellence & Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve reporting and delivery processesContribute to internal knowledge management and documentation of best practicesSupport discipline leads with pipeline visibility, resource planning, and risk mitigationEscalate issues promptly and collaborate on solutionsSkills and QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in a relevant field10+ years of combined experience in engineering and project management rolesStrong technical and legal writing skills with proven ability to edit complex reports.Proven experience determining and implementing the right project management structure or methodology.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlinesStrong interpersonal and client-facing communication skillsEligibility to work in the United StatesPreferredExperience supporting expert witness or forensic engineering mattersFamiliarity with U.S. litigation processes and expert reporting standardsProfessional certifications such as EIT/FE, PE, or PMPExperience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet) and collaboration platforms (SharePoint, Teams)What We OfferCompensation: Salary between USD $100,00 - $125,000 dependent upon experience, qualifications and overall role alignment.
