SummaryThe PA Wilds Conservation Shop Team is considered the front line to a positive and memorable experience for guests. Charged as Community Connectors, their role is to enhance a visitor's experience by providing unsurpassed, friendly customer service relative to the PA Wilds Conservation Shop, answering general questions, and encouraging the exploration of the surrounding communities in the PA Wilds region.Essential FunctionsEngage directly with customers by telephone, electronically, or face-to-faceCommunity Connectors will effectively communicate with guests visiting the trail hub, answering questions about the artisan product assortment, local trails, the community, and the PA Wilds regionManage inventory and prepare merchandise for purchaseOperate an iPad, point-of-sale system, and laptop computerOpen and close cash registers, perform tasks such as counting money, balancing cash drawers, and preparing depositsMaintain knowledge of current artisan products, sales and promotions, policies regarding payments and exchanges, and security practicesMust handle and resolve customer inquiries and complaintsAssist with PA Wilds Center programs and projects as neededParticipate in community-building activities and eventsAssist Store Manager with developing designs using the PA Wilds logoThe person in this position will frequently move about the retail space to help visitors, stock items, clean displays, etc.Must be able to remain in a non-stationary position 50% of the timeFrequently moves stock weighing up to 40 pounds across the facility from the stocking area to the retail spaceNonessential FunctionsProvide feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process with managementAs necessary, direct requests and unresolved issues to the designated resourceFrequently clean shelves, counters, and tables, and reset merchandise displaysOccasionally ascends/descends a ladder to stock products and suppliesJob SpecificationsHigh school diploma, general education degree or equivalent OR current high school students of at least 16 years of ageKnowledge of customer service principles and practicesFamiliarity with an iPad or other digital tabletKnowledge of both Windows and IOSThe ability to work without supervisionKey CompetenciesInterpersonal, listening, and communication skills - verbal and writtenAttention to detail and accuracyCustomer service orientationAdaptabilityInitiativeStress toleranceAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of the local community and the PA Wilds regionThis job description is subject to change at any time.This position is Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt.This is a seasonal position, with the majority of the hours scheduled between May and October.Schedules include a variety of day, weekend, and holiday hours.PA Wilds Conservation Shops are gift shops run by the PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship (PA Wilds Center), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
