We strongly believe our people are our most important asset, and we strive every day to make Murphy a great place to work as we build our clients' visions.Position SummaryThe Mechanical Sheet Metal Piping & Plumbing Virtual Construction Technology Lead is responsible for leading and standardizing the technology and digital workflows that support virtual construction, fabrication, and field installation. This role serves as the technical authority for Trimble RTS layout, Trimble scanning, model setup, and database management, ensuring accurate, reliable, and repeatable execution across projects.The Virtual Lead works closely with VC leads, managers, APC, Trimble layout crews, project teams, and field leadership to ensure technology, models, and data are aligned with union work practices and jobsite needs.Key ResponsibilitiesTrimble Layout & Field TechnologyServe as the company lead for Trimble RTS total stations and model-based layout workflowsEnsure standards for model preparation, point naming, control, and layout accuracy are completed correctlySupport field layout crews with setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and best practices either directly or with Trimble TechsCoordinate training for field use of Trimble units with craft and Trimble TechsReality Capture & ScanningLead Trimble scanner deployment and reality capture workflowsEnsure scanning standards for existing conditions, QA/QC, and as-built documentation are completed correctlyRegister, manage, and maintain point cloud data for project useIntegrate scan data into VC models for verification and coordinationAssist in estimating standards for ScanningModel Setup & Digital StandardsEstablish and maintain model setup standards for sheet metal, mechanical piping, and plumbing scopesManage shared coordinates, control points, file structure, and linking strategiesEnsure models are optimized for coordination, layout, fabrication, and field useSupport clash detection, constructability reviews, and field-ready deliverablesSupport the Engineering Department model setupDatabase & Data ManagementOwn and manage the virtual construction database and model data structureEnsure consistent naming conventions, metadata, and version controlMaintain clean, reliable data for layout, prefab, and as-built deliverablesSupport data handoff to project teamsTrain layout crews and project teams on Trimble hardware, software, and workflowsUtilize existing and develop updated documentation, standards, and training materialsEvaluate and implement improvements to technology, processes, and toolsStay current with Trimble and construction technology advancementsRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in VC database or Modeling contentExtensive hands-on experience with RTS and layout workflowsExperience with scanners and point cloud processingStrong knowledge of VC platforms such as Revit and ReviztoSolid understanding of model setup, shared coordinates, and digital controlStrong troubleshooting, communication, and field support skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting prefabrication and modular workflowsFamiliarity with Trimble Business Center (TBC), Trimble Connect, or similar platformsAbility to both manage the Technology Team as well as perform their tasksBackground working directly with field crews and foremenReporting StructureVC Technology Lead2 – RTS/Scanner/Trimble techs1+ – Database, content/ITM/model buildersWhat We Will Bring to the TableA collaborative, family-friendly work environmentKnowledge and expertise that have helped us grow and thrive for over 100 yearsCompetitive pay, a bonus, and an excellent benefits package, including health and life insurance, a health-forward wellness program, 401(k), and profit sharingA robust PTO program designed to support real work–life balanceJ-18808-Ljbffr
