Advanced Structural Materials Specialist
General Responsibilities
Collect, organize, and analyze data to generate technical reports
Fabricate test specimens
Perform laboratory testing in accordance with established standard procedures related to material evaluation and testing
Review materials for compliance with specifications and national standards
Evaluate new technologies and materials
Review, develop, and revise specifications, test methods, and standard laboratory procedures
Manage internal research initiatives
Write and review research reports and other technical documents
Perform advanced test procedures with minimal supervision
Enter test data into the appropriate reporting software program or database
Extract test data and prepare detailed reports and correspondence
Communicate with District and Contractor personnel
Other duties as assigned

Job Summary:
Quality Labor Management is seeking a motivated and dependable Advanced Structural Materials Specialist to support an important Florida state agency in a hands-on, laboratory-based role in Gainesville. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build specialized experience in structural materials, laboratory testing, data analysis, and technical reporting while supporting important statewide materials functions. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role is best suited for someone who can work with minimal supervision, follow established testing procedures, and contribute in a technical environment involving chemistry, concrete, corrosion, and materials-durability testing. This position is expected to be a long-term opportunity for the right person. It offers the chance to perform advanced laboratory work, support internal research initiatives, assist with technical document development, and work alongside experienced professionals in a highly specialized setting. Occasional overnight travel is required. Work is performed on-site in Gainesville. Remote work is not available.
Skill Desired:
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to perform advanced laboratory testing with minimal supervision
Ability to use computers and standard laboratory tools, instruments, and equipment
Ability to follow laboratory safety procedures and established standard testing methods
Ability to work in a team environment and support technical and research activities
Required Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Organized, dependable, and highly motivated with strong attention to detail
Experience with data entry, data extraction, and technical report preparation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data for technical review and reporting
Ability to multi task and work effectively with others or independently to meet common goals
Preferred Skills
Previous laboratory work experience
Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures
Experience reviewing materials for compliance with specifications and national standards
Experience developing or revising specifications, test methods, or standard operating procedures
Familiarity with the use of power tools
Technical writing skills for reports, correspondence, and research documents
