Manufacturing EHS Manager

Position SummaryThe Safety Manager is responsible for the transformation, development, implementation, and maintaining workplace health and safety programs within a food manufacturing environment. This role leads compliance with all regulatory requirements while fostering a strong safety culture that protects employees, supports operational efficiency, and aligns with food safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and continuously improve site-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a best-in-class working environment for all employees. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) as well as company standards. Lead risk assessments, hazard analyses, and job safety evaluations across all departments. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and facility walkthroughs to identify and mitigate risks. Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries; determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Partner with food safety and quality teams to ensure alignment between safety protocols and food manufacturing standards (e.g., GMPs, HACCP). Facilitate safety training programs, including onboarding, refresher training, and leadership coaching. Track, analyze, and report safety metrics (TRIR, LTIR, near-miss reporting) to leadership. Lead emergency preparedness efforts, including evacuation plans, drills, and crisis response. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and HR to reinforce safe behaviors and continuous improvement. QualificationsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, or related field preferred. 5+ years of safety leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing or a regulated production environment. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, FDA guidelines). Professional certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP preferred. Experience with incident investigation methodologies and root cause analysis. Proven ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
