Social Media (Instagram) Volunteer (Unpaid)
GPG has an established and highly engaged audience online through social media channels Facebook (50,000 followers), Instagram (17,900 followers), and Tik Tok (80,300 followers). As always, there is room to grow our audience and engagement on all platforms. Currently, we are looking for support posting 3-4 days a week on our Instagram account.ResponsibilitiesGPG is looking for a volunteer who is enthusiastic about marketing communications at an animal welfare nonprofit, crafting messaging in a social media space. This individual can work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with others in their remote location or at the Pet Resource Center. This is inherently a creative position that requires ongoing communication with other social media volunteers and key members of Gateway’s Development Department, mostly via text messaging and emails. This role must be able to post 3 days a week on GPG's Instagram account, share stories (tagged), support Instagram takeovers for adoptable pets, and respond to DMs. Most posts are to market adoptable dogs and cats at Gateway Pet Guardians. Sometimes promotion of adoption events and fundraisers are also needed.QualificationsExperience with social media content creation and knowledge of platforms, specifically Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok is a must. Exceptional video editing is required. Volunteers must adhere to branding guidelines while producing quality writing for social media posts. Proofreading of other’s writing on social media is greatly appreciated. Must be a team player. This role requires a great amount of consistency and reliability - staying on track and posting every week. An understanding of social analytics and paid social advertising is preferred. Finally, the ability to produce high-quality video and photography is preferred although a lot of video and photography is captured in the field by GPG full-time staff and will be sent to social media volunteers.Ideal social media volunteers are self-starting and open-minded. They can work with flexible posting schedules as trends and circumstances change RAPIDLY in animal welfare (i.e. flash floods, sudden pleas for pet food, requests for colleagues to do silly dances, etc.) All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation to learn more about Gateway Pet Guardians. We also expect professionalism, in person and online, while engaging with followers.
